For this example, let's convert 6000 ft into miles
You can multiply any number by 1 and not alter the equality. Since 1 mile = 5280 ft, it follows that 1mile/5280 ft =1. Therefore, in the equation below, the units of feet cancel out and you are left with miles:
6000 ft | 1 mile = 6000/5280 mile = 1.136 mile
