Clock hand

The minute hand of the clock is 2.2 meters long and the hour hand is 1.7 meters long. How far apart are the tips of the hands at 1:00 PM?

You can address this problem by making a drawing.  It will be a triangle, with an acute angle 30 degrees and the two sides of this angle having the stated linear measurements.  You can use the Law of Cosines to calculate the side across from the angle, joining the tips of the two clock hands.
