Use the model for the period of a pendulum, T, such that T = 2π√L/ g , where the length of the pendulum is L and the acceleration due to gravity is g. If the acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s2 and the period equals 4 s, find the length to the nearest cm

T = 2π*(L/g)^1/2

 

squaring both sides ; T^2 = 4π^2*L/g

 

L = T^2* g/4π^2 (multiplying by g and dividing by 4π^2 on both sides of the equation)

 

L = 16 * 9.8/(4*3.142^2) = 3.97 meters
