(5x4 - 2x2) ÷ (x3 - x2 + 2) is an example of POLYNOMIAL LONG DIVISION.
I'm sure the word Baseline should not be in your question.
I get quotient 5x + 5 and the remainder is 3x2 - 10x -10

Michael, you are CONFUSED (past tense--look at the spelling). OK, then what you need to do is to research POLYNOMIAL DIVISION. You will find examples in any good basic Algebra textbook. Or you can use Google to research "division of polynomials."
For me to do it, on this limited platform, is too much hard TYPING...but believe me, this is just an ordinary polynomial division problem. Two good website that I know of are Kahn Academy (unsure of spelling) and PurpleMath.
You need to study your textbook, or eqivalent material, UNTIL you finally grasp this subject.
