An octagon is a polygon with 8 sides (such as a stop sign).  If the perimeter is 24x+32 and if the octagon is REGULAR (i.e., all sides have the same length), then each side has length (24x+32)÷8 = 3x+4.  

 

So, if x = 6, then the length of each side is 3(6)+4 = 22
