The dimension of a rectangular plot.

The dimension of a rectangular plot is (7p+4q) and (2q+8p) units respectively.Find the area of the plot when p=2 and q=1.

By plugging p equals 2 and q equals 1 into the given length and wide, it ends out that the plot is a squared shade of side 18.  Area =L²= (18)² = 324 units²

 

Or  you can do

1) A= (7p + 4q)^²

 

A= [7(2) +4(1)]²

A= (14 + 4)²

A= (18)²

A= 324 units²

 

2) A= (2q + 8p)²

 

A = [2(1) + 8(2)]²

A = (2 + 16)²

A = (18)²

A = 324 units²

A = (7p + 4q)(2q + 8p) = (7*2 + 4*1)(2*1 + 8*2) units²

 

A = (14 + 4)(2 + 16) units² = 18*18 units² = 324 units²
