c2 = a2 + b2 for right triangles, as I am sure you've been told.
The sum of the squares of the two legs (a &b) is 4+9 = 13.
So hypotenuse c = square root of 13.
It's very important that you study this because stuff like this happens ALL THE TIME in all mathematics!
