–3x + 9 = –3(2x + 3) + 3(x – 4) + 1

Using the rules for PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Add, Subtract) you may simplify to:

 

9 - 3 x = -3 x - 20 or, 

-3 (x - 3) = -3 x - 20

 

No solution exists, however.
