For any numbers:
a(b+c) = a(b) + a(c)
Just multiply the number outside the parenthesis
by each number inside and then add.
Example: 5(2+6) = 5(2)+5(6)= 10+30=40
Note this is the same as 5(8) = 40
With variables such as your problem the steps
are sthe same
6(x-3) = 6(x) + 6(-3) = 6x - 18
x(y+7) = x(y) + x(7) = xy + 7x
and so forth.
4(x+3)
What do you have if you multiply
4(x) + 4(3) ?
