solving by the quadratic formula

In Algebra 1 I am given the following problem:

 

Solve by the quadratic formula: 5x - 1 = 2x²

Please help me.

5x - 1 = 2x² ⇒

 

2x² - 5x + 1 = 0

 

This has the form ax² + bx + c = 0

 

a = 2

b = -5

c = 1

 

The quadratic formula gives solutions:

 

x = [1/(2a)] [-b ± √(b² - 4ac)]

 

There will be two solutions, one with the positive square root, and one with the negative square root.  Can you take it from here?  Feel free to post a comment if you need more help.
