How you have the question written out is a little unclear. It could be one of two possibilities:
(1.) (2/9)n - 5 = 2 + (5/9)n
OR
(2.) 2/(9n) - 5 = 2 + 5/(9n)
In either case, to solve for n, you need to move all term containing the variable n to one side of the equation and all other terms to the other side of the equation. Then add like terms and solve for n.
In (1.):
(2/9)n - 5 = 2 + (5/9)n
- (2/9)n - (2/9)n
______________________________
-5 = 2 + (5/9)n - (2/9)n
- 2 - 2
___________________________
-5 - 2 = (5/9)n - (2/9)n
-7 = (5-2/9)n
-7 = (3/9)n
-7 = (1/3)n
Multiply both sides by 3 to solve for n:
-7 = (1/3)n
3*-7 = 3*(1/3)n
-21 = n
In (2.):
2/(9n) - 5 = 2 + 5/(9n)
- 2/(9n) - 2/(9n)
___________________________
-5 = 2 + 5/(9n) - 2/(9n)
- 2 -2
__________________________
-7 = (5-2)/(9n)
-7 = 3/(9n)
-7 = 1/(3n)
Multiply both sides by 3n:
-7 = 1/(3n)
3n*-7 = 3n*(1/(3n))
-21n = 1
(-21n)/-21 = 1/-21
n = -1/21
