1.
1/(x-2) + 2x/((x-2)(x-8)) = x/(2(x-8))
Can't divide by zero so x ≠ 2 or 8.
Multiply both sides by 2(x-2)(x-8):
2(x-2)(x-8)/(x-2) + 4x(x-2)(x-8)/((x-2)(x-8)) = 2x(x-2)(x-8)/(2(x-8))
2(x-8) + 4x = x(x-2)
2x - 16 + 4x = x^2-2x
0 = x^2 - 8x + 16
0 = (x-4)^2
x = 4 is the answer.
check:
1/(4-2) + 2(4)/((4-2)(4-8)) =? 4/(2(4-8))
1/2 + 2(4)/((2)(-4)) =? 4/(2(-4))
1/2 - 1 =? -1/2
-1/2 = -1/2 √
2.
(m^2 + 2m + 1/m^3 + 3m^2 + 3m + 1) (m^2/m - 3m/3)
Can't divide by zero so m ≠ 0.
= (m^2 + 2m + m^-3 + 3m^2 + 3m + 1) (m - m)
= (m^2 + 2m + m^-3 + 3m^2 + 3m + 1) (0)
= 0
