After 5 months the number of subscribers to a newspaper was 5730. After 7 months the number of subscribers was 6022. Write an equation to represent this linear model and use it to find out how many subscribers to the newspaper will be there after 10 months.

no. of subscriber on y axis

 

so we can write order pair as

 

(5,5730)   (7,6022)

 

slope =m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) =(6022-5730)/(7-5)=146

 

for writing equation we will use point slope form

 

y-y1 =m(x-x1)

 

y-5730=146(x-5)

 

y-5730=146x - 730

 

y=146x+5000

 

 

So after 10 month

 

y=146(10)+ 5000

 

y=6460

 

After 10 months no. of subscribers= 6460
