A bathroom floor measures 8ft by 6ft and is to be covered by ceramic tiles, each tile measures 8 inches by 8 inches. Find the number of tiles needed to cover the bathroom.

So, Samantha, the floor is 96" x 72".
 
96/8 = 12
72/8 = 9
 
So there are 12 x 9 squares, or 108.

Hi, how did you get 72"?  I know the 8ft x 8ft times 2 will give you 96 but I'm stuck on the 72.

Samantha, the floor is 8 ft x 6 ft. There are 12 inches in a foot. 8(12) = 96 and 6(12) = 72, so the floor is 96 inches by 72 inches.
