In a triangle, ABC, measure of angle A = measure of angle B = 2 x the measure of angle C. Find the measures of the three angles.

Why is the answer not 45, 45 and 90?

Let x = measure of angle C

 

Then, measure of angle A = measure of angle B = 2x

 

So, x + 2x + 2x = 180°

 

                  5x = 180°

 

                    x = 36°

 

So, ∠C = 36°   ∠A = ∠B = 72°
