In 1996?, funding for a program increased by 0.28 billion dollars from the funding in 1995. In 1997?, the increase was 0.06 billion dollars over the funding in 1996. For those three years the funding was 10.46 billion dollars. How much was funded in each of these three? years?

In 1995 funding for program = x billion dollars

In 1996 funding for program = x+ 0.28 billions dollars

In 1997 funding for program= x+0.28+0.06  billion dollars

 

For those three years the funding was 10.46 billion dollars

 

x+x+0.28+x+0.28+0.06=10.46

 

3x+0.62 = 10.46

 

3x =9.84

 

x= 3.28

 

So In 1995 funding for program = x=3.28 billion dollars

In 1996 funding for program = x+ 0.28= 3.28 +0.28= 3.56 billions dollars

In 1997 funding for program= x+0.28+0.06= 3.62 billion dollars
