Numbers and

find the smallest number which when divided by 18 and 24 will have a remainder of 4 and 10 respectively.

I am sure there is an easier way to solve it, but I made a table of values satisfying a•18 + 4 for natural numbers a, until it produced a number x such that x=10mod24. This method was faster than guessing, and observe that you can approach this as making a table of values satisfying b•24 +10 until it produces a number y such that y=4mod18. I get 58 by this method.
