First transform the linear equation so that you can clearly see the slope term, then you'll need to take the negative reciprocal of this slope to find the new slope that is perpendicular to the original line.
From there use this new slope in whichever form for the equation of a line you are most familiar with (slope-intercept form) or (point-slope form) to write the new equation.
