The best part of this for me is watching my students overcome their particular obstacles and knowing I helped them achieve the level of success they set for themselves. My main goal is to help you achieve yours!

I'm a former certified NYS math, physics, and technology teacher. As an active supporter of STEM learning experiences and non-traditional education since the mid-90s, I volunteered in the schools and at outreach events before offering private tutoring services in 2002.

For math and science in general, I can draw from nearly two decades of work experience in various settings (office, lab, field, production, retail, distribution) and two years working directly as a certified math teacher (7-12). I've helped prepare students for high-stakes testing, like NYS high school regents and college entrance exams, using techniques tailored to the needs of the individual student. Currently tutoring students from 6th grade through college in pre-algebra, algebra (1 and 2), geometry & trig, pre-calc, and advanced algebra.

Taking a science and math class in the same semester? I'm here to help you with both subjects!

I love physics and am able to recognize a student's difficulties from teaching and tutoring this subject for over three years. I focus on building a solid understanding of the big concepts and encouraging my students to develop a sense of the reasonableness of their results; both can really help out when a little math or decoding skill sometimes gets in the way of getting the "book answer."

I encourage you to contact me to learn more and schedule our first visit. I'm looking forward to getting to know you as we enjoy our sessions together and work through what you struggle with most!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have tutored high school students in Algebra 1 since 2002!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I am sensitive to the many ways that students struggle with the concepts and techniques that are covered in the classroom, including Algebra 2.
Geometry,

Geometry

This past year, I've helped a dozen students (8th grade through college) master the topics you'll typically see in school, on Regents exams, and on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GRE). I've seen first-hand how students struggle with these concepts in the classroom and under pressure. We'll find a comfortable pace to advance through the basic formulas and relationships, while applying them to very practical situations. Advanced topics can also be explored for those aiming for the highest scores and harder courses.
Physics,

Physics

I had some incredible science instructors and have studied how the best teach physics. From my own teaching and tutoring physics at the high school, AP, and college levels over four years, I've honed my ability to recognize a student's difficulties and adjust my style to help learning happen. I focus on building a solid understanding of the big concepts and encouraging my students to develop a sense of the reasonableness of their results; both can really help out when a little math or decoding skill sometimes gets in the way of getting the "book answer."
Precalculus,

Precalculus

This past year, I've helped a dozen students master the topics you'll typically see in high school and to get them ready for the rigors of Calc. I've seen first-hand how students struggle with these concepts in the classroom and under pressure. We'll find a comfortable pace to advance through the basic formulas and relationships, while applying them to very common questions and practical situations. Advanced topics can also be explored for those aiming for the highest scores (and harder courses next year).

Very patient

David went above and beyond to help my very reluctant Geometry student. Couldn't have a better tutor. Helped us through technical difficulties and schedule miscommunications. Very professional.

Teaches you to understand the material

David is a thoughtful teacher who works with you to ensure that you truly understand the material. I really appreciate that he previews the questions in advance so that we can jump right in and he is always available for quick check ins too. Couldn’t recommend more!

Very good tutor

My son has just started working with David on AP Physics but so far it is going very well. My son is learning a lot and enjoys David’s style. We plan several more sessions in the months ahead.

Excellent and patient teacher

David is talented to explain hard optics concepts the way my 11 year old boy can understand! Highly recommended! On the top of his excellent teaching, he is patient and kind to kid, he is passionate teacher and cares what part my kid was not clear and went over again until the concepts are mastered.

Great Tudor!

David has done a great job explaining things so that I understand them better. He is very patient and is very helpful. He fills the gaps that are missing in my school lesson plan to help Physics make more sense.

Excellent tutor!

David as an excellent tutor. My 17 year old son recommends him too! He is very accommodating with crazy schedules and has helped my son with SAT exams. You won't be disappointed.

Dan, 4 lessons with David

great tutor!!

David really knows his stuff. I missed a few classes and David helped me get back on track. He taught me the material on my homework in a fun way that I was able to recall for the final exam

Quinton, 11 lessons with David

adaptable and straightforward

I'm a fan of this tutor because his methods are a good match for my learning style. He lets me talk my way through problems and then critiques my process or shows me quicker ways to achieve the same goal. Since my test-taking deficiency is more about strategy than knowledge of content, I am confident that after tutoring with David, my score will improve considerably.
