I believe that you are using the wrong notation. [ ^ means 'here comes an exponent']
You could say a1= 2 pronounced "a sub one is two," i.e. a1 = 2
an = 6an-1 which is a recursive definition.
Thus a2 = 6•2 =12 & a3 = 6•12 = 72.

When we type answer/comment, there appears on the screen, just above where we do the typing, a row of icons that enable us to select Bold, Italics, ...x2
or x1 or symbols (this icon is the Greek capital letter 'omega')
Clicking on x2 activates subscript typing. When finished with subscript, click it again to deactivate subscript typing.
Etc, etc...try clcking on the Omega to gain access to important math symbols such as ≠ ≥ ≤ ¼ ±
