=4*4-4*3√2-3√2*4+(-3√2)*(-3√2)
=16-12√2-12√2+18
=34-24√2

Hi Jonathan, to simply this expression, change it to the multiplication of two binomials.
(4 - 3√2)2 = (4 - 3√2) * (4 - 3√2) = 16 - 12√2 - 12√2 + (9 * 2)
= 16 - 24√2 + 18
34 - 24√2
