Question

Consider an ice cube tray in which each cube is created in a tray that has 12 Wells, each with a side and depth of 2 cm , how many ice cubes can be made from a liter of water?

Answer 1

V_cube = 8 cm³         2 · 2 · 2

1000 cm³ / 8 cm³ = 125

 

Note the bit about the tray is superfluous (bad pun).

(note:  the pun is creative; not so bad) 

 

This problem not only presents extra information, it provides the opportunity to determine the number of trays first and then to forget the partial tray when converting back to number of cubes.  It reduces to:  "How many 8-cm³ cubes can be made from 1 liter of water?"
