3(x+2)-5=15+x

Can someone please explain to me what is the value of x?

Sure. 
 
3(x+2)-5=15+x   (This is the initial statement)
 
First, we multiply each factor in the parenthesis by 3:
 

3x + 6 - 5 = 15 + x
 
Because we have two x variables (with different coefficients) in both sides of the equal symbol, is necessary to place both x variables in one side, and keep the numbers in the other side:

3x -x = -6 + 5 +15
 
Adding common terms in both sides:

2x = 14

Solution:  x = 7
