You own 50 shares of company  A and 100 shares of company B . At the close of the stock exchange , your total investment is worth $9500. The price of one share of company A is $8 less than the cost of one share of company B . What was the price of one share of company A when the stock market closed? What was the cost of one share of company B at that time?

B represents the cost of the B company shares

B - 8 represents the cost of the A company shares

 

50(B - 8) + 100B = 9500

50B - 400 + 100B = 9500

150B - 400 = 9500

150B = 9900

B = 66
