A company that sells used cars owns three dealerships. Last year, Dealership A sold 500 cars at an average profit of $1200 per car. Dealership B sold 800 cars at an average profit of $1000 per car. Dealership C sold 700 cars at an average profit of $800 per car. Across all three dealerships, what was the average profit earned by the company for each car sold?

Read the given facts once or twice, very carefully.

What is the total number of cars sold?  (Call it n)

What was the total profit made by dealer A?  (You must multiply 500 times 1200)

What's the total profit made by dealer B?  
And by C?

 

So, what was the grand total ($) of profits (all 3 dealers)?

 

To get average profit, calculate grand total $ ÷ n.
