What is the probability that two randomly selected 2 year old male garter snakes will live to be 3 years old? What is the probability that nine randomly selected 2 year old male garter snakes will live to be 3 years old?

Olivia, This problem is kind of like figuring the odds of flipping 9 coins and having them all come up heads.

You just multiply the probabilities of the individual tosses.

 

 

Probability of two snakes living to age 3 is (.83344)(.83344) = (.83344)^2 = .6946222

 

Probability of all n snakes living to age 3 is (.83344)^n
