A basketball player makes 60% of the free throws attempted. The player shoots two consecutive free throws. You see the player make a free throw but dont know whether it was the first of the second free throw. What is the probability that the player made two free throws?

because each free throw is an independent event, the probability of the two events is the product of the individual probabilities.

 

So, 60% = 0.6 times 0.6 = 0.36 = 36%
