Going to assume that its √(4a2 + 4b2) based on the answer you got. If not, let me know.
Unfortunately that plus sign in there makes it tough to simplify much because usually we use the product property to simplify radicals. For example √50 = √25 * √2 = 5 * √2 or 5√2.
We can, however simplify a little bit by factoring out the 4's in each term.
√(4a2 + 4b2) = √(4(a2 + b2)) = √4 * √(a2 + b2) = 2√(a2 + b2)
the only time we can simplify something with + or - signs is when it factors into a perfect square.
