How do I multiply 3x+1(x-2)

hello, I need help with multiplying 3x+1(x-2), please show with steps. Thank you

You assumed that the first plus sign in the expression was an ampersand (&), thus making the problem a "FOIL" job.
 
I took the problem as a SIMPLIFICATION of the stated expression, assuming that the student's point of concern emanated from the coefficient 1 (multiplying 1 times (x-2).
 
We can trace these different understandings (or assumptions) to the poor phrasing of the question.
