Two planes, which are 2780 miles apart, fly toward each other. Their speeds differ by 45 mph. If they pass each other in 4 hours, what is the speed of each?

distance=rate*time

2780=r*4+(r+45)*4

2780=4r+4r+180

2780=8r+180

2780-180=8r

2600=8r

r=2600/8

r=325 mph and 325+45=370 mph are the speeds of the planes
