The easiest way to find intercepts is to set one of the variables equal to 0.

 

To find the y-intercept, set x=0 and solve for y.

To find the x-intercept, set y=0 and solve for x.

 

Let's do that.

 

6x-2y=-24

 

Find the y-intercept

Let x = 0

6(0) - 2y = -24

-2y=-24

divide both sides by -2 and

y = 12

So the y-intercept is the point (0,12)

 

Find the x-intercept
Let y = 0
6x - 2(0) = -24
6x=-24
divide both sides by 6 and
x = -4
So the x-intercept is the point (-4,0)
