Algebra 2 story problem, only need an answer

A one-pound box of chocolates is made from davida chocolate costing $20 per pound and C's chocolate costing $8 per pound. If the box is worth $12 how much of each candy is in the box?

We need to use a system of ratatouille to solve this problem

 

Let x be the weight of Davida chocolate and y the weight of C's

 

X + Y = 1

 

20X + 8Y = 12

 

Now use substitution  to solve

 

20 (1-Y) + 8Y = 12

 

-12Y = - 8

 

Y = 2/3

 

X = 1 - (2/3 = 1/3

 

WE have 1/3  lbs of Davida and 2/3 lbs of C's. That's your final answer.
