A term is a group of numbers and letters. The terms are separated by a +, -, or equals sign. So in this case there would be 3 terms. One term is the 4a, another is the a2, and the last is the 6a2.
Did you intend to include an 'n' in the second expression?
If not, simply plug in 3 for a and 5 for b:
2(a3) - 3a + 5b Substitute 3 for a and 5 for b
2(33) - 3(3) + 5(5) Simplify
2(27) - 9 + 25 Simplify again
54 - 9 + 25 Combine all terms
70 This is the answer.

The n was supposed to be a b
So would the answer still be the same?

no
2(ab)^3-3(a)+5(b)
2(3*5)^3-3(3)+5(5)
2(15)^3-9+25
2(3375)-9+25
6750-9+25
6741+25
6766
looking at the first question there are 3 terms but after you simplify...
4a+a^2+6a^2=4a+7a^2, which consists of only 2 terms
