Not sure if i'm on track or not

Translate this sentence about area into a mathematical equation. The area A of a regular pentagon is directly proportional to the square of the length s of its sides.

 

I tried to do this and came up with A=S^2*5

 

I'm not sure if i'm getting this or not.

directly proportional means y=kx for some real constant k

you want A=kS² for some constant k

to find the area of a regular polygon use the following formula:

A=S²n/(4tan[180/n]) where n=# of sides of the polygon and S=side length

a pentagon has 5 sides

A=S²*5/(4tan[180/5])

A=5S²/(4tan(36º))

A=[5/4tan(36º)](S²) where k=5/[4tan(36º)]
