there are many ways using substitution to solve for this system of equations First find for x equation in the first equation: y=3x+2 (subtract 2 from both sides) y-2=3x (divide by 3 both side) (y-2)/3=x Now substitute x back into the second equation so y=4x-7 y=4((y-2)/2)-7 y=2(y-2)-7 y=2y-4-7 -y=-11 y=11 replace y=11 intot he first or second original equations ( we are going to use the first equation) to find for x y=3x+2 11=3x+2 9=3x x=3 therefore x=3 and y= 11 so (3,11) would be the solution to the system of equations.
