When we substitute the second equation into the first it looks like this:
7x - 5[(1/5)x-1] = 35 now simplify
7x - 5/5x+5 =35
7x - x = 30 subtract 5 from both sides
6x = 30; x = 5
insert 5 for x in the first equation
7(5) - 5y = 35
35 - 5y = 35
-5y = 0
y = 0
