P-S formula:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

Slope formula:

(y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

m = k

 

So k = m = ((k + 1) - k)/((k + 3) - k)

simplify:

k = m = 1/3

 

Now that we know k and m, we can put them into the P-S equation:

y - ¹/₃ = ¹/₃(x - ¹/₃)
