An antibiotic IV solution contains 20mL of solution to be infused in 15 minutes. The drop factor of the infusion set 60 drops per milliliter. What is the flow rate?

Hi Kimberly,

 

If the flow rate is measured in drops/minute and there are 60 drops in one milliliter, there would be 60 x 20 = 1200 drops in 20 ml.

 

1200 drops / 15 minutes = 80 drops/minute
