Trying to get the answer to this sentence that I have to translate into an equation. Please help.

"Difference" means that we subtract the two numbers.  "Times" means that we multiply.  Whenever you see the term "equals", you will have an equation.

 

9c - 5 = 2

  "the difference of a number times 9 and 5 equals 2'    means

                (               c              *        9        -    5 )   =     2
