That's right: there is an exact solution √(1+e2)-1 shown and also a rounded decimal value 1.89638, which corresponds to that exact solution w/some rounding error as it's clearly stated. This estimate is included just for added clarity: for any experienced math student it's relatively easy to see that the value of the expression is positive, thus it should be valid (unlike that second one -1-√(1 + e2) included in your original solution). -1-√(1+e2) ≈ -3.896 is extraneous since ln(-3.896) is undefined.  So the only solution is -1 + √(1+e2).
