algebra 2 problem

I need to find the value of f (1.6) and (1.9)
(x)=x^5-x^4+6x^3-4x^2-18x+8; [1.6, 1.9]

 

I tried to follow the suggestion I was given but I just it can't do it could someone simplify f(1.6) and f(1.9) for me please

Thank you for your question! In order to solve for this one you just want to plug in the value directly and then simplify.

f(1.6) = (1.6)^5 – (1.6)^4 + 6(1.6)^3 – 4(1.6)^2 – 18(1.6) + 8

when I plug that into a calculator I get -2.5318 for the value there

similarly then

f(1.9) = (1.9)^5 – (1.9)^4 + 6(1.9)^3 – 4(1.9)^2 – 18(1.9) + 8

which simplifies down to 12.2429 for the function value
