I am assuming that you are trying to solve for the variable n. Ask yourself, what number multiplied by itself will give me four. That number would be 2 because 22 or 2 * 2 equals 4. To solve this problem algebraically, you must get rid of the square on the left side of the equation so take the square root of both sides of the equation. The square and square root on the left side will cancel each other out and result in just n by its-self on the left side. On the right side the square root of 4 is 2. Therefore, n = 2.
