What's the question?  That's just the definition of a function.  What are you supposed to do with it?

I'm sorry I have to determine if the function is odd, even, or neither

Correction:  H(x) is odd if -H(-x) = H(x)

-H(-x) = -5(-x)3/[2(-x)2- 8] = 5x3/(2x2-8) = H(x)
So, H(x) is an odd function.

Actually, my original answer is equivalent to what I did in the comment. The two definitions of "odd function" are equivalent.
