algebra doubt

21x2yz-15xy2z3    here we apply HCF 
 
 
16/3-15/12          here we apply LCM 
 
i know both terms answer only my confusion is
how to come to know that where we should apply LCM and HCF and i also want to know concept of application of LCM and HCF
 
please explain me in detail

The HCF is used for the first expression to factor out the Greatest Common Factor (GCF).
The LCM is used for the second expression to determine the smallest common denominator so the fractions can be added.

The product of the highest common factor (HCF) and the lowest common multiple (LCM) of two numbers is equal to the product of the numbers.
