This is really just a fraction problem.  If we split 3/4 of a cup equally then both get one-half of the 3/4.   OF means multiply for word problems...

such as if I have 3 sets OF 6 then I have a total of 3(6)=18.

 

We need to know "How much is 1/2 of 3/4"

 

(1/2)(3/4) = (1(3))/(2(4))= 3/8

 

Each kitten gets 3/8 of a cup of milk
