Word problem

There are 12boxes on the first floor of Christy's house, 2/3of which she must carry up to the second floor. To go from the first floor to the second floor, Christy climbs 16steps.If Christy carries 2boxes at a timeand does not skip any steps how ,any steps up must she climb?

Mark, I believe the trick to this question is remembering that for 3 of the 4 trips upstairs, Christy must also come back down.  We have 3 round trips of 32 steps = 96 steps, plus the last trip back up of 16 steps.  Total stairs climbed is
96 + 16 = 112.

The question asks for how many steps UP must she CLIMB.  The question does not ask for the total number of steps.

I see that.  I just bet the teacher is going to be looking for the total steps.   However, it could be argued that your point is valid.  That'll be between Jessie and whomever assigned the problem.
