Parallel lines never meet.
That means: (a) they have the same slope on the x-y plane, (b) they are always the same distance apart, (c) for any x, the difference between the y-values of the two lines is constant, etc. (these are saying the same thing in different ways).
If you draw one line and then want to draw a parallel line, you must pick one of the above statements (they are all equivalent), and ensure that it is true.
For example, pick an x on line 1 and find the y value. Then, for the same x, the y value of the parallel line is y+Constant.
Oh, another “give away” that lines are parallel:
In “standard form,” the equations of two lines: Ax + By = C is parallel to nAx + nBy = nC
Also, it is o.k. to measure the minimum distance between the parallel lines (intersecting each at a 90-degree angle) if the math isn’t too complicated.
Ans: You must endure that the parallel lines stay an equal distant apart (never intersect).

In geometry a "construction" is made using only compass and straight edge.
