Assuming you mean nickels in the second sentence: "... and half as many nickels as dimes."
Let,
no. of dimes = x
no. of quarters = 2x ( There are twice as many quarters as dimes)
no. of nickels = x/2 ( half as many nickels as dimes)
Then,
total no. of coins = x + 2x + x/2 = 91
(2x + 4x + x)/2 = 91
7x/2 = 91
x = 26
so,
we have 26 dimes = 26*$0.10 = $2.60
no. of quarters = 2*26 = 52 = 52*$0.25 = $13.00
no. of nickles = (1/2)*26 = 13 = 13*$0.05 = $0.65
Total money in the piggy bank = 2.60 + 13.00 + 0.65 = $16.25
