the upper edge of a bowl has a diameter of 3.5 inches. Which measure is of the bowls upper edge?

Sometimes problems such as this have "magic numbers."  These are values that simplify the arithmetic and allow you to concentrate on the material that you are learning.  Very often, standardized test have "magic numbers."
 
So, if you find a problem that starts to look "ugly" in the math, you may be making an error.
 
For this problem, the obvious "magic number" is  PI=22/7.   Yes, it is an estimate, but so is 3.14 an estimate.  Anyway, look at how much simpler it is to evaluate    C  =  2 * (22/7) * 3.5    = 22 inches   !
 
Math is not hard, so don't make it difricult.
