Piece of cake!  First of all, divide each side of the equation by the common denominator of 2.  It makes it easier.  Now you have:  X² -4x = 12.  Now you'll either factor it or use the quadratic formula.  Either way, you need to set it to zero.  So subtract 12 from each side.  Now it's:  X² -4x -12 = 0.

This is factorable.  6 and 2 have a difference of 4 and a product of 12. 

So it's (X - 6)(X + 2) = 0

The answers are X = 6 and X = -2.
